Since I didn’t have internet access from the evening before we left Maryland until today I kept a diary of all the goings on for your reading pleasure:

Sept 26
The movers showed up on time but charged us for every thing that wasn’t in the original quote. They wanted us to go with them to Jessup where the weigh station was and we declined so they claim we were 6100 pounds and the quote was for 5600 so we owe them another $300 at delivery.
We hit the road at 11:45 AM and arrived at the Florida state line at 11:48 PM. We stopped at a Cape Canaveral Denny’s for breakfast and a floor show about 3 am. We stopped once for a hour to sleep at a rest area around 4 am and arrived at Wade’s in Hollywood FL at 8 am.

Sept 27th
We signed the lease at 10 am. I am now a tenant. We unloaded the car, cleaned off the road dirt and went to lunch. Then we tried to sleep some. We woke up around 5 and went to Publix and bought some essentials. I made dinner for a change…Toad in the holes. And we went back to bed.

Sept 28th. I called the territorial manager to let him know I was here and I was going to stop into the store to get my schedule. He told me to go there at 3pm. So we went to Target and bought 2 cheap computer desks and a vacuum sweeper (we had to throw away the old one because it wouldn’t fit in the car after the truck left). While Wade put the computer desks together I drove down to the store. Pablo wasn’t in yet so I had to wait a little while. It’s a real nice store. A lot nicer than even the Frederick store which is the newest one in (our) area.
When I met Pablo, the General Manager, he wasn’t sure the territorial manager really wanted to put me in his store and said I should call him Saturday at noon. I did pick up price sheets so I could memorize the differences. The store is a half hour away and the traffic sucks. Its like driving 355 thru Rockville.
We went back to Publix for more staples at RUSH Hour again.
On the Broadwalk the annual Clam Bake was going on. We went down for a bit. They had a car show and lots of vendors. We walked around for about 2 hours. We bought Fish and Chips from a man with no front teeth. There was a group of people way away from the festival all tightly circled around each other on the beach. We have no idea what that was about but I guessed they were waiting for the UFO to pick them up. The full moon rise was pretty neat over the ocean. But at first we couldn’t tell what it was, the clouds obscured it I guessed it was the UFO they were waiting for. Walking back to where we parked I was surprised by a crab walking on the broadwalk.

Sept 29th. We had a real breakfast this morning. We did have to toast the bread in the sandwich maker. The turkey bacon was cooked in the frying pan we bought at Publix (the microwave is on the truck).
We went down to Target to get dishes and some other essentials. I saw a great purse I had to have and a pair of shoes and 2 tops on clearance. Checking out I think the cashier was totally confused. Mom paid for the home stuff and I paid for my stuff separately but she charged me twice for the shoes and didn’t ring up the purse at all. Of course we didn’t catch it until we were back at the apartment and I couldn’t find the purse. They refunded the extra charge for the shoes and I tried to buy the purse again but it wouldn’t go thru. I guess I just wasn’t meant to have that purse.
I called Pablo at Noon. I will be his new 3rd Key and I start 11am on Monday.
I spent the afternoon at the pool. It started to rain as we arrived at the pool but we just waited until it blew over. I have always heard if you don’t like the weather in Florida just wait 5 minutes. I have to buy a floppy hat if I’m going read at the pool--too sunny. I think lizards are listening to Eminem. I was listening to Eminem while watching them bob. They were in time to the rap.
Mom put the computers together while I was at the pool. Our keyboards are exactly the same but she knew which one was mine (Mine has food on it) No internet yet, tho. After Bellsouth put our phone in the wrong apartment, and we spent time calling them, today we have phone service. Of course, the DSL modem was also sent to the wrong address and no one can find it. Anyhow, Bellsouth said it would take 2 weeks to hook up the DSL (why?).
We went over to Wades to use the internet so Mom could check bank accounts and stuff. He recorded Stargate Atlantis for us so we watched it while there.

Sept 30
We woke up at 4 am to a thunder boomer. Cheyenne wanted to go out and pee but Sioux said no way. By the time we got up at 8 the storm blew over.
We ate breakfast and then went back to Publix. This was the first time we were there when it wasn’t rush hour. We had time to really look around and we found the Flat Earth Mango chips and the Sabra lemon humus. We have to find the Whole foods for coffee and hopefully they have my ginger jelly.
We took the dogs for a nice long walk. Sioux does not like this grass at all. Since there are not any sidewalks, our walk is mostly on the pavement.
Its raining again so I probably won’t be going to the pool. Bummer.
We gave away the heavy TV and were planning to buy one when we got here. With the movers wanting more money, that’s going to be on hold. One of Wade’s friends is going to loan us one. Meanwhile, we have a little under counter space saver in the kitchen. It came with the apartment, and it’s an old black and white but at least we can listen to the news.

Thats when I got bored with this and I stopped..sorry
Heres a pic of the view that greets me when I go to walk Sioux in the morning.

*waving happily*

Welcome to your new home!

My gosh....what a lovely view when you walk the pup.
And how cool to not have a television to steal your time. (this from a woman who won't watch TV!)

Here's to new places and opportunities.....and a fantastic purse that's wanting to go home with you. ;-)
