WANNA CAMP at Caloosahatchee Regional Park?
At the end of the camping trip, I laid my camera on Sue's vehicle to put the bikes on the rack and forgot it. As we pulled out of the campground it slid off and was run over by a Winnebago. I am gonna have to actually write about this camping trip instead of just posting photos.
I was a beautiful campground. Our group of 28 wanna doers were slit up into 3 group sites of 6 each for Friday and 4 sites Saturday night. All the usual suspects were there, except Brett, Whispy and Kerry. This one wasn't a true car camp as we had to leave the car in the parking lot and haul with carts all our stuff to the campsite. The campground supplies the carts and Fridays and Sundays they all all being used and sometimes there is quite a wait.
Friday Night Mike bought some wood and Wolfgang and Mike built a huge fire. Most of the other campers joined us Friday night.
Saturday morning half of them went kayaking down to Hickey Creek. I joined them at the river to take pics of the launch. I'm always amazed how graceful Trish is getting in and out of her kayak. When I finally get one of my own I'm gonna practice until I look as graceful as Trisha.
Those of us that didn't kayak went to a winery in Alva. They had a wine tasting and a little information about the winery. The wines were good but I only liked the first and the last. He gave us chocolate tho so, he's a good guy in my book. The conductor of the wine tasting was telling us how he was late because of a parade and spring festival in Lehigh Acres. Terry and Kevin arrived late so we sat out on the porch and rocked while they did their conducted wine tour and decided to go to the Spring Festival. We got a little lost but finally arrived. We missed the parade but was there in time for the judging. One little group was the Lehigh Acres Elementary Cloggers. These little girls were dressed in royal blue square dance outfits with white crinolines. they were just as cute as can be. The youngest was 4 and it was her birthday. They were so cute sitting on top of the short bleachers with there skirts all puffed out. We wandered around the midway and pointed out colorful shots and scarey rides. Wolfgang, Daniel, Sue and I stayed a little longer than the others. We went back to the river and found a lock. We watched the locks open and close for a bit and talked to the boaters as they waited for the water to go up or down.
We got back to camp about 4. Sue and I headed down to the river and rode a hiking trail down the river. There were water hazards and a pretty scary hill then Sue and I headed off to the mountain bike trails across the road. We stayed on the easy trails but ran into George, Xander, Row, Justin at one of the intersections. They we riding the advanced trails. Sue and I saw a pair of deer on the easy trails and I got a great shot with my camera. At sunset we went down to the river to see if the sunset was photographable. We could not see the sun but the sky was all pinks and purples.
Group campsite 2 was the host for the big Saturday night fire. We were hushed a couple times by the camp host after quiet time. We can't help it..I have never met such a group of people that enjoy being together in the wood as much as these guys.
Sunday morning I got up at o my Goodness its early, to shower. The showers are outside and warm if you get there early enough. It was a wonderful experience showering outside when most the world is still sleeping.
After the camera incident the plan was to go to Corkscrew swamp on the way home. I was depressed and angry at myself for being so stupid. Sue went in and I napped in the car.
The camera was my way of getting over my social awkwardness and shyness. I really don't need it with this group anymore but I feel nekked without it.

Oh crud. *sigh* That'd make for an upset anybody.... Well, shoot!
We'll hope insurance covers it. Sorta sucks--but I think it's a good thing to discover that awkwardness and social shyness has been overcome with the folks you're with. That's a really good thing.
But I get that you feel naked without it. I'd feel naked without mine, truth be told.
*hugs*
Check homeowners insurance! You could be covered for a new camera....
